Stainless Steel World 2001 Conference and Expo took off on Tuesday 12 November at 8.15am with Chairman Michael Renner’s opening speech. With 215 delegates from over 35 countries and 150 exhibitors from approximately 35 countries, the event looks set to match the success of the 1999 edition.
Especially the workshops attracted a lively discussion. Fred Nast and Axel Schmidt of Krupp Uhde demonstrated how to give an interactive presentation during their Procurement Workshop. The Supermartensitic/JOTSUP Workshop moderated by Per Egil Kvaale of Statoil and Alfred Dhooge of the Belgian Welding Institute reflected the interest in supermartensitic stainless steels with a afternoon session that was excellently attended. Other workshops and paper presentations also showed the quality of the presentations and the expertise of those presenting them.
The expo opened at 10.00 am and was characterised by the quality of the visitors. The day ended with an cocktail on the expo floor which enabled delegates and exhibitors to mingle in an informal atmosphere for optimal networking.
