Outokumpu will deliver special stainless steel for the project to rebuild the dam in Tammerkoski rapids. All of the main structural parts of the sluice and flood gates will be made using Outokumpu's lean duplex LDX 2101®

Siemens VAI Metals Technologies has won an order from Viraj Profiles Limited to supply an argon oxygen decarburization converter for its plant in Tarapur, Maharashtra. The new converter will allow the company to increase the stainless steel output required for its rolling mills.

Outokumpu will deliver stainless steel to Börger GmbH. The duplex will be used to build tanks required in biogas production. This order marks Outokumpu's first order for the newly launched duplex steel grade LDX 2404®.  The steel will be produced at the Outokumpu in Avesta, Sweden. LDX 2404® is the ideal choice for the tanks due to the high corrosion resistance and superior mechanical properties of the steel.

The European Union has revived a threat to impose tariffs on screws and bolts from India, citing that EU producers may be victims of subsidies and price undercutting. The EU launched an investigation into whether Indian manufacturers of stainless steel fasteners receive trade distorting government aid and sell the goods in the 27 nation bloc below cost, a practice referred to as dumping.

Wescast Industries Inc will further expand the capacity of its stainless steel facility in Stratford, Ontario to more than double its previous commitment. The additional capital investment coincides with a number of production orders recently received for engine components that use the innovative manufacturing technology employed at that facility. The investment will be financed via operating cash flows.

The Vasa Museum and Sandvik are taking on a critical project to replace 5000 wrought iron bolts on the Swedish heritage vessel. A national treasure, Vasa capsized and sank in 1628 as it prepared for its maiden voyage; it was raised from the bottom of the harbour in 1961 and carefully restored.
