Flowmeters overcome technology limitations

Krohne has introduced Optimass, a new family of Coriolis mass flowmeters, in a bid to overcome previous limitations in technology and opens up a wide range of metering opportunities. The range is the first of its kind to provide wetted parts in titanium, stainless steel and Hastelloy, allowing material selection to give corrosion resistance for almost any process fluid. Optimass can cater for flow rates from 0.3 up to 560,000kg/h, handle high viscosity fluids and particulate matter with ease, and maintain excellent levels of accuracy even in the presence of entrained air. The Optimass family consists of two styles of Coriolis mass flowmeter: the straight tube (Series 70) and the Z tube (Series 71). The Series 70 has no installation limitations and can be sited anywhere in the pipework. A unique feature is the capability to support the meter on its own body, something that was previously impossible with most mass flowmeters. The Series 70 also incorporate a new, patended hygienic coupling design, a “single-seal” aseptic process connection which satisfies even the most stringent demands in the food and pharmaceutical industries. Also is the Series 71, a new range of Z tube meters, designed primarily for low flow applications.
Both Series 70 and Series 71 have been comprehensively evaluated at major chemical, pharmaceutical and food and beverage sites in Europe to actively measure the mass flow of substances such as margarine, coffee extract and pesticides, and are delivering previously unattainable levels of performance.
