New ultra-miniature ball screws are available in diameters as small as 3mm with choice of 1 or 0.5mm pitch. Steinmeyer now offers an extensive range of miniature screws from 16mm diameter (with up to 30mm pitch), down to the tiny 3mm diameter. The screws are equipped with one of four types of ball nuts, with or without preload. By using Steinmeyer’s internal ball deflector returns instead of external tubes, the nuts offer smooth low noise operation in a compact size. The screws are manufactured from standard tool steel, with stainless steel as an option. Applications for miniature ball screws include semiconductor production machines, inspection equipment, microscope stages, fibre-optic assembly mechanisms, medical devices, miniature robotics and analytical equipment.
