Timken awards modernisation contract

Morgan Construction Company has received a contract from Timken Company of Latrobe, Pennsylvania, to modernise its bar mill. Pradip Ghosh, Bar Mill Sales Manager, in announcing the contract, said: “This upgrade, which replaces a manual operation, includes new tilting tables with manipulators for the mill’s existing three-high reversing stand. The scope of the project includes the design and supply of both mechanical and electrical equipment with Morgan’s process control system”. “When the upgrade is fully operational”, he said, “the mill will increase output by approximately 25% and will substantially improve the quality and reliability”.
He added: “The bar and coil (rod) mill produces niche specialty grades including steel-, nickel- and titanium-based alloys in sizes from 5.5 to 75mm”.
