Statoil gives contract to Samsung

Norway’s Statoil has given a NOK 475 million contract to Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries Co to construct the steel hull for a production platform to be used in the Kristin field in the North Sea. The hull will be delivered in 2004. “Contracts worth over NOK 8 billion from a total estimated development bill of NOK 17 billion have been placed so far,” said Nina Udnes Tronstad, Statoil operations vice president in a written statement.
