Industrial safety specialist Castell has increased its range of high specification shotbolts for machine guarding and controlled-access applications. The Electrobolt 700 and 700LD shotbolts are electrically continuously rated and have a mechanical specification for long-term operation under the most demanding industrial conditions. The 700LD has been developed for lower duty applications where a force range of no more than 0.4kgf is required. Both models offer users either powered extension or retraction and a wide range of AC and DC input voltages can be specified. Bolts are 10mm diameter stainless steel and the throw is 15mm (21mm for the 700LD extension model). Typically, these bolts are used to secure sliding doors and guarding panels, particularly on hazardous machines requiring frequent access such as power presses. Bolt position monitoring switches enable integration with process monitoring and control systems. Designed for vertical or horizontal surface mounting, casings are heavy-gauge aluminium castings. The 700 features additional deep finning on three sides, ensuring rapid heat dissipation and maximising solenoid coil life expectancy and reliability. Casings for both versions are fully enclosed and ingress protected to IP66. A uniquely coded mechanical override key (700) or lever (700LD) is an option for users needing to disable the shotbolt in the event of a power failure. The shotbolts satisfy IEC947-5-11 and are suitable for use with category 4 safety systems. They are also approved by both UL and CSA. The 700 has dimensions of 250 x 75 x 90mm and weighs 2.5kg, whereas the 700LD measures 125 x 80 x 57mm and is 1kg in weight.
