SSW America 2004: call for papers

Stainless Steel World is organising a conference and exhibition dedicated to the use of corrosion-resistant alloys, and welcomes your participation through the submission of papers for oral presentation as well as poster contributions. The event will be held on 21–22 October 2004 in Houston, Texas, USA. Besides the traditional fields of application covered in Stainless Steel World’s Conferences such as the processing, oil & gas and power generation industries, topics such as the use of CRAs in architecture and forming will be touched upon. The conference will enjoy strong participation from end users and will have a clear emphasis on applications and practical field experiences. Conference attendees will receive information focusing on managing costs and improving reliability from end users, fabricators and producers in the form of end-use case histories and shared experiences in design, fabrication, specification and cost and supply chain management.

Stainless Steel World – America 2004 will cover the broad range of corrosion-resistant alloys, including stainless steels, nickel alloys, titanium, duplex and super duplex, supermartensitic, austenitics and super austenitics and other corrosion-resistant alloys. During the two-day event plenary paper and workshop sessions will be held on topics such as the reliability, use and understanding of world-wide codes and standards, design, specification and fabrications pitfalls, materials selection for initial and life-cycle cost and global purchasing trends and experiences. A unique feature of the Stainless Steel World – America 2004 Conference is the opportunity for attendees to participate in the workshop discussions and bring forward questions and experiences for discussion with purchasing, design, fabrication, vendor and materials colleagues.

The main topics and areas of application will be: oil & gas, offshore and onshore, chemical and petrochemical, power generation, pulp & paper, architecture, building and construction, welding, fabrication, alloy optimisation, surface engineering, materials selection and life-cycle costs, procurement, standards and specifications, new applications and future needs, product development and availability of different product forms. The steering committee will be chaired by Cathy Shargay of Fluor Daniel.
