Orbimatic GmbH has announced details of the ORBIWELD 12 Micro Weld Head. The ORBIWELD 12 has been designed and developed specifically for welding short stubbed stainless steel butt weld fittings. Two styles of clamping systems are available and are attached to the main body of the weld head by means of two quick release thumb screws. These two styles of clamping systems allow the ORBIWELD 12 to be used for most applications for tube from 3mm to 12.7mm outside diameter. The ORBIWELD 12 will even weld two fittings, with stubs a short as 0.25â? (6.35mm) together using the tube clamp cartridge. This is achieved as the tube clamp cartridge is only 12.7mm (0.5â?) thick allow this very difficult joint configuration to be carried out easily. If the weld head is to be used for welding a lot of tube to tube or tube to longer stubbed fitting then the universal clamp system can be used which has interchangeable collets sets to allow a full range of tubes diameters to be welded with one cartridge. Despite being so thin the ORBIWELD 12 still incorporates the same high level of water cooling as the other weld heads in the ORBIWELD range with cooling right to the tip of the head.
