Polishing line for stainless

Toronto-based Excelsior Steel Processing Ltd plans to open a new coil-to-coil polishing plant in Middletown, OH, in February, and promises to offer some of the largest stainless steel coils available in the US market. Herr-Voss Stamco, Callery, PA, is custom-manufacturing equipment for Excelsior that will handle coils weighing up to 80,000 lb, in thicknesses up to 0.165 in. and up to 65 in. wide. Herr-Voss Stamco reports that the line will feature five top-side polishing heads; two bottom-side polishing heads; an automated in-line welder; a wash/rinse/dryer system; and protective film/paper interleaf applicator. The line’s integrated capabilities will include “new generation” technologies that reduce processing time and maintain Excelsior’s benchmark level of quality finishing. Herr-Voss Stamco will also handle demolition of the foundations of existing equipment on the site; and build and install the new foundations, swarf tanks, piping, and wiring. And, Herr-Voss Stamco is performing installation of the new equipment, start-up, and operator training.
