PetroChina begins laying crude pipeline

PetroChina has begun laying a pipeline that will send crude oil from northwestern China and Kazakhstan to feed its new refinery currently under construction in southwestern Sichuan. The pipeline is scheduled to commence operation in 2012 and will wind 878km from Lanzou city to Pengzhou city in Sichuan. It will facilitate the operation of PetroChina’s 200,000 barrels per day Pengzhou refinery that is scheduled to begin in late 2012 or 2013. The company currently has had an oil products pipeline pumping fuel from Lanzhou to Sichuan and Chongqing at full capacity.
