US Steel inks deal with Lambda

US Steel Corporation’s tubular products subsidiary, US Steel Tubular Products Inc., has entered into an agreement with Surface Enhancement Technologies (SET), part of Lambda Technologies Group, to improve the quality of its tubular steel products. As per the agreement, US Steel has received an exclusive permit by SET to use its patented low plasticity burnishing technology (LPB), which can enhance the performance and prolong the service life of various tubular products. Applying the technology to already existing products does not require any changes in the design or material of the products, allowing for inexpensive integration of the processes. LPB is suitable for many alloys, including titanium, aluminum, nickel based alloys and steels, and is presently in use in the aerospace, nuclear and medical industries. This provides an advantage for US Steel as the company can offer LPB services to other companies.
