Outokumpu may acquire Metso grinding mills

The US Federal Trade Commission has approved Outokumpu’s acquisition of the grinding mill business (earlier Nordberg’s mill business) from the Finnish Metso Corporation. The acquisition has been cleared after the other condition for the deal, the completion of Metso’s offer for Svedala Industri AB, was fulfilled on 14 September. The grinding mills complement Outokumpu’s ore concentrating technologies and strengthen Outokumpu’s position as the world leading technology supplier to the mineral processing industry. Now Outokumpu can offer complete process solutions with all the key equipment required for a mineral processing plant. The mill selection now belonging to Outokumpu contains rod and ball mills, SAG mills and autogenous mills. The annual net sales of this business has been on the level of EUR 25 million on the average. Metso’s personnel of the mill business in five countries, altogether 30 people, transferred also to Outokumpu.
