New way to polish titanium

The polishing of titanium and its alloys has taken an important step forward following an agreement between Bripol of Birmingham and the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva. Bripol is a joint venture company formed by Anopol in the UK and Delmet in Italy. Both companies specialise in the commercial electropolishing of stainless steel fabrications for a wide range of industries. This industrial expertise will be combined with the development work undertaken by CERN which holds a patent for electrochemically polishing titanium and its alloys. Benefits of the process are that it is not restricted to pure titanium and large surface areas can be successfully polished far more economically than by mechanical methods.
