New products will feature alongside a wide range of filler wire and rods, covered and strip electrodes and fluxes for welding stainless and high alloy steels on Sandvik’s Steel stand at Schweissen Schneiden. A strong Research and Development capability and close control of metallurgy during wire and strip production means that Sandvik has full control of the whole production chain for welding consumables from steel to melt to the finished product. Also on show, for applications in the oil and gas industry, is Sanvik’s recently developed 25.10.4L filler metal with low hydrogen for welding 13% chromium pipelines. Developed to provide a consumable with precise composition to match the properties of the parent material, Sandvik used its control of metallurgy and material processing in order to minimize the hydrogen contact. The result is greatly reduced risk of cracking in the weld. Also to be seen for the first time at Scweissen Scheiden is a new range of welding wire, covered and strip electrodes and fluxes for welding nuclear steam generator tubing. Sandvik is one of the few companies able to offer a full range of consumables for nuclear use. Designated Sanicro 68 and Sanicro 69, the new range represents the next generation of consumables for new build and refurbishment nuclear projects and offers significant improvements in resistance to stress corrosion cracking.
