On Friday 9th October 2015 Lincoln Electric will host the Association for Welding, Fabrication, Training and Education’s (AWFTE) annual conference. Taking place at Lincoln’s Sheffield based showroom from 9am – 4pm, the conference will explore the theme of ‘Securing welding and fabrication trades for now and the future’.
Up-to 100 delegates are expected to attend the conference which will feature a number of industry speakers including Andy Brown (Engineering Construction Industry Training Board), John Brampton (The Welding Institute) and Gina McDowell (SEMTA). Stephen McPartland (MP) and Christine Doubleday (Find A Future) will also attend as guest speakers; to talk about bridging the gap between the industry and young people, and the 2015 World Skills competition that recently took place in São Paolo, Brazil, respectively.
A special guided tour of Lincoln’s MIG Factory in Sheffield, where Lincoln’s popular Supra MIG and Arcweld MIG welding wires are produced, has been organised for delegates who choose to arrive the day before on Thursday 8th October.
Speaking about the conference, Marketing Manager David Kirkwood has said, “We are delighted to be hosting such an important and significant industry event. Having worked with the AWFTE for over 10 years, we know the quality content their conferences always provides, and given the skills shortage issues facing our industry at present, we are proud to be hosting an event that will help address this”.
