Friedrich Kocks GmbH & Co, (Hilden, Germany) in co-operation with DanieliSPA (Buttrio, Italy) will supply its first three-roll Reducing & Sizing Block (RSB) to China. The four-stand RSB with 370mm roll diameter is part of a major upgrading of the existing specialty steel bar mill of Daye Special Steel Co. Ltd in Huangshi, Hubei Province. The plant upgrade includes the three-roll RSB, equipment for LTR (low temperature finishing rolling), a bar-in-coil line and key components for the bar and bar-in-coil finishing services. After the upgrading is concluded, this specialty steel mill will be capable of producing bars in the size range from 12 to 72 mm diameter with a capacity of 100 t/h. The product mix includes alloyed steel, high-carbon steel, bearing steel, spring steel and stainless steel. The incorporation of the RSB will improve the quality of the bar as well as the overall economy of the mill. The main features that allow the RSB to make this possible are adjustable stands with remote control for “free-size” rolling, quick stand change in the mill line as well as quick roll change and computer-aided roll and guide adjustment in the workshop for “chance-free” rolling.The start-up is scheduled for the end of 2002.
