Investigating fasteners

Last year SSF was approached by DNV to be involved in a special research project. DNV established a Joint Industry Project to provide a better understanding of the factors influencing the deterioration and corrosion of fasteners and to improve practice for corrosion protection of bolting in atmospheric, splash and subsea zones. This will ensure better practice for the specifying, use and maintenance of fasteners. The project includes a 10-year exposure test. All fasteners were manufactured by SSF. The company already supplied fasteners in alloy K-500, 725, 718 and 686 and is working on test bolting in A286 660.
