AvestaPolarit revamps melting shop

AvestaPolarit will proceed with a reconditioning of its first stainless steel melting shop in Tornio, now that the new melting shop has been started up. The melting shop reconditioning is part of the overall development for the Tornio Works and will be carried out in 2004. The estimated costs for the reconditioning are EUR 55 million, of which EUR 19 million relates to environmental protection measures. The investment will enable dust emissions from the steel melting shop to be reduced significantly and total dust emissions from the Tornio Works to be reduced by more than 30%.
