Foster Wheeler Energy Ltd has won a project management contract (PMC) from Petronet LNG Ltd for a project to build an LNG terminal in India. The terminal, which has an overall project value of USD 500 million, will have a capacity for receiving and re-gasification of five million tonnes per annum of LNG, with provision for expansion of ten million tonnes per annum. It will be based in Dahej on the Gujarat coast, approximately 1200km SW of Delhi. The terminal is expected to be operational in 2003. As PMC, Foster Wheeler will be responsible for services in support of the Petronet project management team and will oversee the work undertaken by the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Contractor. The facilities for the terminal will include breakwater, jetty, LNG unloading arms, vapour return line, two LNG tanks of 160,000 cubic metres capacity, boil off gas compressors, recondenser, vaporisers, gas metering arrangements, utilities and other required infrastructure.
