TWI has recently announced that its Chief Executive Dr Christoph Wiesner has been recognised in the New Year’s Honours List with an OBE for Services to Engineering and Innovation. Christoph Wiesner joined TWI in 1991 after obtaining a materials science degree in Germany and a doctorate in Switzerland. He spent twelve years in the Structural Integrity Technology Group at TWI before becoming Director of Research and Technology in 2003. He oversaw the growth in value of TWI’s Technology Programme through publicly funded programmes from the UK and EU. Dr Wiesner is also a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, The Welding Institute and The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.
