BUTTING impressed its customer in the oil and gas industry in the Middle East with its optimal time management. The family business produced a total of 100 kilometres of longitudinally welded duplex pipes and delivered them on time despite the very tight schedule.
The customer required 100 kilometres of longitudinally welded pipes for a project on the Arabian Peninsula. BUTTING was the one to impress and received the order with its assurance that it could meet the special deadline.
Within a very short time, pipes made of duplex LC65-2205/UNS S31803 with dimensions of 219.1 × 5.6 mm had been manufactured in Knesebeck. To meet the tight schedule, production was carried out in parallel on three different welding systems in manufacturing lengths of 11,800 mm.
Besides austenitic steels and special alloys, BUTTING has specialised in the fabrication of duplex and superduplex materials.
The duplex steel UNS S31803/UNS S32205/1.4462 is characterised by high corrosion resistance. It is superior to the usual austenitic steels, especially in neutral and moderately acidic media. It offers particular advantages with regard to pitting corrosion, stress corrosion cracking and even vibration corrosion cracking.
