AvestaPolarit tube division restructured

AvestaPolarit’s Tubular Products’ businesses will be regrouped according to their current main products into two organisations: one will focus on tubes, the other on fittings. This provides a clearer structure for efficient management of the respective product areas and the further development of the businesses. The new structure involves a split of the JARO operations into two parts, namely JARO Tubes and JARO Fittings. The new organisation will become effective as of 1 November 2001.
The new Tubes business unit will encompass Avesta Sandvik Tube (AST), JARO Tubes and Stelco Hardy, and it will be headed by Christer Bäck. He will as business unit manager report to Antti Närhi, President of Special Products. Christer Asp continues as President of JARO and manager of the JARO tubes business, reporting to Christer Bäck. Stelco Hardy, headed by Brian Edy, will be moved to the new Tubes business unit, where it will report to JARO Tubes.
The Fittings business unit will encompass ABE Group and JARO Fittings and will be headed by Bengt Blomberg. As business unit manager, he also reports to Antti Närhi. Mr Terho Torvinen, manager of JARO Fittings, will report to Bengt Blomberg.
