AvestaPolarit will recondition its first stainless steel meltshop in Tornio, now that the new meltshop has been started up. The meltshop reconditioning, part of the overall Tornio Works development program, will be carried out in 2004. The estimated cost for the reconditioning is EUR 55 million, of which EUR 19 million relates to environmental protection measures. The investment will enable dust emissions from the meltshop to be reduced significantly and total dust emissions from the Tornio Works to be reduced by more than 30%.
