Linde AG, Wiesbaden, is expanding its gas business in Scandinavia. The company plans to erect a new EUR 50 million air separation plant in the town of Tornio in northern Finland. When completed in 2005, the plant will have a capacity of 420,000 tons of oxygen and 23,000 tons of argon per year. These products as well as nitrogen will be destined for the steel mills of AvestaPolarit. The partners have already signed a delivery contract covering a period of 15 years. The Linde subsidiary AGA AB will operate the air separation plant directly on the grounds of AvestaPolarit as an on-site plant. Engineers at Linde’s Schalchen plant in southern Germany are currently building the plant’s components.
