FLEXWELL-LPG Piping has produced a flexible, “endless” pipe system for buried automotive LPG piping installations at service stations. The system’s innovative feature is a flexible, “endless” metallic piping system made of stainless steel with simple mechanical joints.
When Autogas dispensers are retrofitted in already existing petrol stations using conventional steel pipes, the interruptions caused to business as a result of the installation work and radiographic testing of the joints on site are massive, with a correspondingly high loss of sales. Even with prefabricated steel pipe modules being used, the refitting work typically takes at least three or four days. In contrast, using FLEXWELL LPG Piping, the “one-day site” for all trades involved is the norm.
The materials selected are capable of handling low temperatures and are in conformity with the requirements of the PED. The flexible composite pipe has a helically corrugated primary pipe. This is manufactured of EN 1.4571 stainless steel (US equivalent: AISI TP 316 Ti) for corrosion resistance. Around this primary pipe, high-strength reinforcing bands are fitted, which effectively limits longitudinal expansion even at high operating pressures.
