TECHNIP to build polyethylene plant in the USA

Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP and Solvay Polymers Inc. have awarded a contract for the engineering, procurement and construction of a new high-density polyethylene plant at CPC’s Cedar Bayou facility in Baytown, Texas, to the joint venture of TECHNIP USA Corporation and BE&K Construction Company. The contract is valued at over USD 90 million. This 318,000 metric ton per year plant will be based on CPC’s proprietary polyethylene Loop Reactor Process. From its offices in Houston, TECHNIP will perform engineering, procurement and project management under the terms of the contract. BE&K will carry out all site construction from its Houston office. The completion of the facility is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2002.
