WorleyParsons wins LNG contract

Project house WorleyParsons is in charge of detailed engineering and procurement services for the USD 15 billion Queensland Curtis Liquefied Natural Gas (QCLNG) project, developed by BG Group. WorleyParsons won the USD 580 million contract which covers the upstream gas field facilities and infrastructure pertaining to the project. The BG Group will develop the QCLNG project; the first phase will consist of two LNG trains with a total capacity of 8.5 million tns/yr. The first LNG exports are planned to begin in 2014 as the company already has agreements with Chile, China, Japan and Singapore to purchase 9.5 million tns/yr. The LNG project involves constructing a liquefied natural gas plant in Gladstone, creating a 540km underground pipeline system, and increasing production in gasfields at the Surat Basin near Chinchilla. The plant will operate for 20 years.
