Woodings reconditions bell-less top chute

Woodings Industrial Corp. collaborated with technology partner Franz Grabe to recondition the bell-less top chute for the No. 8 Blast Furnace at US Steel’s Fairfield Works in Birmingham, Alabama. Woodings re-conditioned the bell-less top chute with Grabe liner wear plates and designed the unity with a rock-box effect. The rock-box effect is achieved via a stair-step design in the chute that traps materials and uses it as a buffer to reduce wear abrasion and extend chute life.
