UK and Russia agree energy pact

The leaders of the Russian Federation and the UK have pledged to strengthen ties and to work together on increasing investment and development in energy, according to the UK Department for Trade and Industry (DTI). The summit of 25 July was jointly hosted by the UK Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, providing the forum for commercial and diplomatic agreements between the two countries, including agreement on closer energy co-operation on energy at government level and the signing of the memorandum of co-operation on a North-European gas pipeline between the Russian Federation and the UK.
