Hydro expansion in Canada

Alstom has signed a contract valued at more than EUR 29 million with SNC-Lavalin for the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of a turbine-generator set, plant controls and their auxiliaries at the Brilliant Expansion Hydroelectric Power Plant in Canada. This contract is part of a larger project to expand the existing Brilliant Dam Generating Station owned by the Brilliant Expansion Power Corporation. The dam is located on the Kootenay River near Castlegar, British Columbia. Design and engineering work for the new 120 MW hydro turbine-generator set is already underway at ALSTOM’s Sorel-Tracy plant. Manufacturing will start in the spring of 2004 and commissioning is scheduled for August 2006.
