Tianjin Metallurgical breaks ground

Tianjin Metallurgical No.1 Iron and Steel Group broke ground on its new precision welded pipe project at Wang Wen Zhuang Town Industrial Zone, located in Tianjin, China. The USD 0.3 billion project will be constructed on a 500 acre site and produce structural tubes, gas line pipes and oil casings. The first phase of the two phase project will cost USD 0.16 billion and includes two production lines, one 660mm ERW pipe production line with an output of 350,000mt/yr and one slitting production line with an output of 200,000mt/yr. The second phase entails the construction of a spiral welded tube production line with an annual output of 200,000mt per year, a tube processing production line with an output of 100,000mt/yr, and an anti corrosion coating tube production line with an output of 150,000mt/yr at a cost of USD 0.14 billion.
