Technip-Coflexip wins German heat project

Technip-Coflexip has won a lump-sum turnkey contract, valued at about EUR 41 million, for expansion and modernisation measures aimed at increasing efficiency in two existing natural gas-fired co-generation plants. The RWE Systems plants are located in the neighbouring cities of Bochum and Dortmund in the Ruhr area in Germany. Technip-Coflexip’s scope of work covers design, mechanical and electrical equipment supply, dismantling of existing parts, erection of new parts and commissioning of the upgraded plants. Technip-Coflexip will also be responsible for the design and installation of a new single centralised control room for the two plants. The project, to be handled by Technip-Coflexip’s engineering centre in Düsseldorf, will be carried out simultaneously at both locations, with the two plants running practically non-stop. The completion of the works is scheduled for March 2004. The Bochum heating power plant provides the car manufacturer Adam Opel AG with district heating steam and the local Ruhr-University with district heating water.
