ABB wins order for world’s largest offshore platfo
ABB has won an order worth approximately USD 270 million from Statoil to provide an electric drive system for two new pre-compression units. The units will be used to improve production capacity and extend the lifespan of the world’s largest natural gas platform in the North Sea.
Aker Solutions wins FEED study Statoil field
Aker Solutions has received a contract from Statoil, to conduct the topside FEED (front-end engineering and design) study at the Mariner field on the UK continental shelf in the North Sea. The contract is valued at approximately NOK 125 million.
Xodus studies impact of offshore wind pilot park
Xodus Group will plan and carry out an environmental impact assessment (EIA) for Statoil’s potential pilot park for the world’s first full-scale floating wind turbine. The Hywind turbine is based on the Hywind Demo prototype, which has been tested with success by Statoil in Norway more than a year. An area located off the North-east coast of Scotland will be appraised as a prospective candidate for a possible first pilot park of up to five units, generating renewable electricity offshore.
Nexans receives DEH System Contract
Nexans has received a EUR 20 million contract from Statoil to design and manufacture the direct electrical heating system for the subsea pipelines serving the new Fossekall Dompap oil and gas field. Located on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, the Fossekall Dompap fields tie back to the Norne FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) where Nexans previously provided DEH systems for pipelines to Urd and Alve.
Statoil completes well in Egypt
Statoil has completed the Kiwi well in Egypt’s El Dabaa License (Block 9) this week and the Discoverer Americas drillship will head back to the US Gulf of Mexico shortly. The exploration well targeted the Kiwi prospect located in the Mediterranean west of the Nile Delta, with a water depth of approximately 2700m at the drill site.

Norway: Kårstø Life Extension project
Foster Wheeler AG has announced that its Global Engineering and Construction Group has entered into a Framework Agreement, awarded by Statoil, acting on behalf of Gassco AS as operator for the Gassled joint venture, for front-end engineering design (FEED) services valid through 2013 to support the development of the Kårstø oil and gas processing plant in Norway.
Sci-tech cooperation agreement
The two Shtokman partners, Gazprom and Statoil plan to expand cooperation through a sci-tech cooperation program.
Statfjord celebrates 30 years
Øystein Michelsen, executive vice president for Statoil’s Exploration & Production Norway business area, announced that on 24 November 1979 Statfjord brought one of the North Sea’s largest oil fields on stream.
