Toolox 33 and 44 available as round bars
Since 2002, Swedish steel producer SSAB has been marketing pre-hardened engineering and tool steel – Toolox grades – in heavy plate dimensions. These are delivered in pre-hardened condition having nominal hardness of 300 HBW, 40 HRC and 45 HRC respectively.
SSAB launching new brand for high-strength steels

Ovako to acquire Tibnor Oy
Ovako has signed an agreement with SSAB to acquire steel and metals distributor Tibnor Oy in Finland. The deal has been approved by the European Commission and will now be examined by competition authorities in Finland and Estonia for final approval.
Tata Steel to acquire Nordic service centres
Tata Steel announced the acquisition of three strip products service centres in Sweden, Finland and Norway to strengthen its offering to manufacturers in the Nordic region. Tata Steel in Europe has reached an agreement with steel producer SSAB to buy its strip products service centres at Halmstad in Sweden and Naantali in Finland.
Docol R8 Tubing showcased at PRI
SSAB recently showcased its Docol R8 product at the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Trade Show in Indianapolis, Indiana, the largest show of its type in the world. “This is the fourth year SSAB has participated in PRI, but the first year the company has had enough inventory to address this year’s build season,” said Kim Colvin, regional sales manager, Automotive.
Vale finalist for Swedish Steel Prize 2014
Brazilian company Vale is a finalist for the 2014 Swedish Steel Prize for developing a highly durable mining screener for iron ore in high strength steel.The Swedish Steel Prize is awarded annually by SSAB to recognise the most innovative design utilising high-strength steel.
SSAB launches Laser Plus steel for laser cutting
Laser Plus is a new generation of steels for laser cutting. It provides a maximum flatness deviation of 3mm/m after laser cutting and a bending radius of 0–1.5x the material thickness.
