The use of hydrogen in the steel making process is an important topic affecting manufacturers around the globe.

Severstal PTC has been selected as a supplier of galvanized steel for the production of cabs of new generation trucks, which are produced at the joint venture Daimler KAMAZ Rus.

Primetals Technologies has recently received an order from PAO Severstal, a Russian steel producer, to supply a new twin ladle furnace for its Cherepovets converter steel works.

Severstal and ChelPipe (Chelyabinsk Pipe-Rolling Plant) Group had an extended coordination meeting at the Cherepovets steel mill, part of Severstal’s Russian Steel division. During the meeting, the two companies assessed their joint achievements in 2015 and discussed plans for the future.

Severstal has been approved by German Certification Authorities to deliver 10mm–16mm steel reinforcing bar products in compliance with DIN 488 requirements.

Severstal has signed a four-month contract to deliver rolled steel to Renault-Nissan from March to June 2015. Steel produced at the Cherepovets Steel Mill will be used in car production at the Moscow and Tolyatti plants of Renault-Nissan and AVTOVAZ Alliance.

Severstal received the SFS1268 certificate permitting the Company to make shipments of rebar to Finland and other Baltic countries, where there is high demand for these steel products. To date, Severstal has received certification for 10mm, 12mm and 16mm diameter rebar produced at the Cherepovets steel mill’s mill 250 (part of Severstal’s Russian Steel division).

The Cherepovets Steel Mill, part of the Russian Steel division of Severstal, has completed a maintenance project to upgrade its No1 Converter. This marks the completion of an approx. EUR 59M environmental improvement program that included the installation of equipment to trap fugitive emission from the Mill’s No1, No2 and No3 converters.
