Severstal and ChelPipe review cooperation

Severstal and ChelPipe (Chelyabinsk Pipe-Rolling Plant) Group had an extended coordination meeting at the Cherepovets steel mill, part of Severstal’s Russian Steel division. During the meeting, the two companies assessed their joint achievements in 2015 and discussed plans for the future. Severstal and ChelPipe discussed product quality and delivery regulation over the year, and agreed on areas to further develop the partnership in 2016. During 2015, Severstal delivered over 94 thousand tonnes of rolled metal to ChelPipe, which is a 27% increase year on year.

A key outcome of the coordination meeting was the signing of the 2016 Science and Technology Cooperation program (STC). This agreement on strategic cooperation between the two companies was originally signed by Alexander Grubman, CEO of ChelPipe Group, and Sergey Toropov, CEO of Severstal’s Russian Steel division in 2015, during the Metal-Expo International Industrial Exhibition. As part of the STC program, in 2016 the two companies will continue to develop corrosion-resistant products and launch joint production of rolled steel and X100 strength large diameter pipes.
