Fives Michelin Additive Solutions

newsitemMichelin and Fives have advertised the creation of a joint venture with the aim of developing and marketing industrial machines and production shops on a global scale through "metal additive manufacturing" technology - commonly known as metal 3D printing. Under the terms of the agreement signed, FIVES MICHELIN ADDITIVE SOLUTIONS will be 50% owned by Fives and 50% by Michelin and will benefit from a financial contribution of at least €25 million in the first three years. FIVES MICHELIN ADDITIVE SOLUTIONS offers industrialists different areas of application (such as automotive, aerospace, health, etc.), a complete solution from the design and manufacture of machines and complete production lines to the related services (redesign of parts, definition of the manufacturing process, installation, production support, training, etc.). Even though AM is widely used by manufacturers for plastic, metal 3D printing is still a niche market, one that is rapidly expanding.

Fives and Baotou Steel signed a 10-year contract

Fives and Inner Mongolia Baotou Steel Union, the north-western China-based iron and steel manufacturing company, has signed a 10-year contract for technical support for the development and production of a wide range of high value-added automotive steels, including the latest advanced high-strength steels. Fives will provide high-end technological and process expertise covering from upstream to downstream production processes: steel making, hot rolling, pickling, cold rolling, annealing and galvanizing.

Fives to supply processing line furnaces to Baosteel

newsitemFives was entrusted with the design and supply of two Stein Digiflex® vertical annealing furnaces for Baosteel's new 1550mm cold rolling mill project in Zhanjiang, in southeastern Guangdong province of China. One Stein Digiflex vertical annealing furnace is to be supplied for a 700,000 tons per annum continuous annealing line (CAL), the second one is for a 270,000 tons per annum continuous galvanizing line (CGL).

Fives secures 5 high-end automotive steel projects

Fives, an international engineering group that designs and supplies process technologies to various industries, secured five new processing line contracts for the automotive steel market.

Three continuous galvanising lines (CGL), one continuous annealing line (CAL), and one vertical furnace for another CGL were awarded to Fives in 2014, all associated with the production of a wide range of high value-added automotive steels, including advanced high-strength steels (AHSS).

Fives delivers an HAPL to SWSS

Fives, a manufacturer and industrial engineering group, has just signed off on an annealing and pickling line for hot-rolled stainless steel strips (HAPL) for steelmaker SWSS (South West Stainless Steel).

Fives to acquire OTO Mills

Fives has signed an agreement to acquire OTO Mills, an Italy-based supplier of high performance mills for the production of welded tubes and automation systems for the steel industry.

Founded in 1980, OTO designs, manufactures and installs complete systems for the production of welded tubes and profiles.
