Swagelok announces CEO succession

Swagelok Company has announced the election of Arthur F. Anton to the position of president and chief executive officer, effective 1 January 2004. Mr Anton, 45, currently serves as president and chief operating officer of the privately held maker of fluid system components. Following the six-month transition, William R. Cosgrove, 59, currently chairman and chief executive officer, will continue as chairman and will focus on strategy and relationships with distributors and end customers. Mr Anton joined Swagelok in 1998 as chief financial officer. Previously, Anton was a partner with Ernst & Young LLP, the international accounting and tax advisory firm.
Mr Cosgrove, whose tenure at Swagelok spans nearly 30 years, has served in a wide variety of management capacities at Swagelok. He was named vice president of sales and marketing in 1990, executive vice president and chief operating officer in 1994, chief executive officer in 1998 and became chairman and CEO the following year. During that time he led the consolidation of five companies into one Swagelok Company.
