Sustainable, Visible, Effective

At BUTTING, sustainability is practised in both the products and processes. Two key projects are currently underway at the Tieling site in China: switching to electric forklifts and expanding its photovoltaic system. These projects embody its vision of progress: responsible, technology-driven, and forward-looking.

Noisy operations are a thing of the past: since June, BUTTING Tieling has been using its first electric forklift truck, which has a load capacity of 3.5 tonnes and is equipped with a powerful lithium-ion battery, an extended lift mast, and a comfortable full cabin.

This marks the beginning of the gradual replacement of the existing diesel forklift fleet. Seven vehicles, with load capacities ranging from 2 to 5 tonnes, are set to be converted. The advantages are clear: lower emissions, less noise, and no harmful exhaust fumes, which is good for the climate, employees, and efficiency. In the long term, it will also be possible to dispense with the petrol station that has been used until now.

The management in Tieling is also committed to a sustainable energy supply. After a long wait, approval has recently been granted for the expansion of the photovoltaic system. Work is in full swing on installing around 3,000 m² of solar panels on the roofs of halls 3 and 4.

Along with the existing system on Hall 1, this will achieve a total output of just under 1 megawatt in the future. An intelligent energy management system (EMS) controls the efficient use or grid feed of the energy generated.
