Sumitomo to increase nickel output

Sumitomo Metal Mining Co Ltd has announced plans to up its nickel production by 23% and keep its copper output relatively unchanged in the 2010 Japanese fiscal year. Sumitomo aims to produce 41,000tns of nickel. The percentage changes are comparisons with Sumitomo’s output plans for the 2009 Japanese fiscal year. It also plans to increase its ferronickel output by 12% to 18,800tns, zinc output by 15% to 78,000tns and lead output by 3% to 24,400tns of lead.
