TWI Wales recently welcomed Stephen Kinnock, MP for Aberavon to its Technology Centre at Harbourside Business Park, Port Talbot. Mr Kinnock spent the day touring the engineering and test research facilities, learning about current project work and future scope. Talks also covered the support that TWI is able to offer to the steel industry in the UK, particularly in Port Talbot.
Stephen Kinnock’s visit follows the recent announcement by the Welsh European Funding Office that it will be contributing GBP 7.5M towards the development of the new GBP 19.5M Advanced Engineering Materials Research Institute (AEMRI) to be based at TWI Technology Centre Wales. AEMRI, supported by industry funding and underwritten by TWI, will be a unique facility in the region for structural testing and evaluation.
