Statoil planning gas-fired power plant

Statoil is now working on plans for a new gas fired power plant at Mongstad near Bergen. The plant will be ready in three years, and will supply electricity for the Mongstad terminal as well as for 100,000 private households. The new plant, including the pipeline, will cost around NOK 3 billion to build, the newspaper writes. The three planned gas fired power plants at Skogn in Troendelag, Kollsnes and Kaarstoe will not be built for the time being, because with today’s price for natural gas and expected price for electricity, they are not economically viable.
