Stalatube acquires

Stalatube Oy has announced that it has acquired the Pietarsaari square tube production of Outokumpu Oyj. Stalatube specializes in stainless square and rectangular hollow sections for the international market. The deal brings Stalatube new high frequency welding technology, enabling new conquests in, for instance, the bus building industry, which demands ferritic (nickelfree) tubes. Nickel-free steel ensures more predictable price developments and thus a steadier demand, the need for which has been accentuated by recent rapid changes in the global economy. Outokumpu will sharpen its strategy for circular tubes, both as a manufacturer and distributor. Since Stalatube has focused on square and rectangular tubes, there are mutual advantages in this deal. Both parties have agreed that details of the transaction will not be disclosed.
