With the disappearance of many traditional manufacturers of large diameter pattress plates, engineers have found it difficult to find reliable sources of supply for these products. The situation has now been rectified by Stainless UK who have become a source of supply for the plates which are widely used in the reinforcement of railway bridges and masonry structures. âWe are continuing to supply the traditional designs which spread the load over a wide area and are recognised as being masonry friendlyâ?, said Steve Worsley, managing director of Stainless UK Ltd. The standard 7.5-degree rotation pattress plate in ductile (SG) iron is available from stock, whilst a 45-degree rotation design for larger misalignments is available to order. Both types can be supplied in sizes from 225mm diameter to 545mm diameter with corresponding load designs of between 78KN and 490KN. As a further option, either design can be supplied in stainless steel to order. âWith their optimised shape and weight, they were originally designed alongside the railway industry and remain an ideal way of restraining bridge masonry and brick archesâ?, Steve Worsley added.
