Stainless reinforcing bars in India

Finland-based stainless steel company Outokumpu has introduced its corrosion resistant Duplex stainless steel reinforcing bars in the Indian market for the first time to inject more than a hundred years life in upcoming new infrastructure concrete structures. Mr YPS Suri, head of Outokumpu India, said that “The Duplex stainless steel reinforcing bars have been introduced in the Indian market for providing long life into concrete structures especially in the coastal areas, ports, airports, bridges, high rise buildings and water treatment plants as these bars do not ever corrode and thus concrete failure due to sapling is avoided.” Mr Suri said “The other benefits of stainless steel reinforcement include significant increase in durability and reduction in repair and maintenance costs, elimination of concrete sealants and reduction in thickness of the concrete cover.”
