Stainless cladding for Newark bridge replacement

Stelax Industries Ltd (Dallas, Texas, USA) has won a second order for 86,200 lbs. of NUOVINOX(R) rebar for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The rebar will be used as a non-corrosive solution in the N25 bridge replacement and reconstruction of Brewster Road South in the Port of Newark. NUOVINOX 316L Stainless Cladded Rebar will be used in the top mat of reinforcement in the deck replacement and in all of the reinforcement for the bridge parapets. The project is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2002. NUOVINOX is carbon steel that is cladded with stainless steel and is priced substantially lower than solid stainless steel. Stelax makes NUOVINOX rebar, dowels and flat bar.
