SSAB appoints two new heads of business

SSAB has appointed a new Head of SSAB Americas and a new Head of SSAB EMEA Business. Charles Schmitt will be in charge of the Americas Business area. He is currently a member of SSAB America’s management team and is head of the Southern Business Unit in SSAB Americas. Melker Jernberg, the present SVP at Scania, will be the new Head of EMEA.

Schmitt holds a Bachelor degree from the University of Texas in Business Administration. He began his career in the steel industry at US Steel Corporation and has worked for over 20 years within IPSCO, subsequently SSAB, holding senior positions within marketing and sales. Schmitt’s new position will begin 18 July 2011.

Jernberg holds an MSc in Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. He has maintained a number of senior positions at Scania, including his current position as SVP with responsibility for the Buses and Coaches business area. He will begin his new position at SSAB no later than 1 January 2012.

Both will become members of SSAB’s Group Executive Committee
