Spectro scores with flying colours

Spectro, the leading manufacturer of optical emission and X-ray fluorescence spectrometers with more than 18,000 installations world-wide, successfully completed a quality audit by the German Iron and Steel Institute (VDEh) on 15 October. Auditors awarded Spectro a total score of 98 out of a total of 100 possible points. Spectro ‘s score was extraordinarily high, according to statements made by VDEh quality auditors. This praise was the result of a supplier audit conducted by the German Iron and Steel Institute’s rolling mill working group on behalf of its members. Because all members of this group maintain quality management systems which include third-party services and operating equipment, these must also be monitored on an ongoing basis. The supplier audit was conducted in accordance with the checklist in VDA Manual No. 6.1 “Quality Management System Audit.â€? The focus here is on the extent to which suppliers set up, manage, and monitor their production processes with a view to optimal product quality.
