Special Metals expands east

Special Metals Corporation has opened two new sales offices in China, one in Beijing and the other in Shanghai. The company is thereby extending its Asia Pacific marketing operation based in Singapore and Hong Kong. Commenting on the development, Special Metals’ President T. Grant John said, “Overall, China has a forecast of 7.4% growth in 2003. Despite turmoil in other countries’ economies, China has achieved 7.9% growth in the first nine months of 2002 and is on plan for better than 7.8% for the year. The additional offices will greatly enhance our ability to efficiently serve the region and increase our market share in this exciting and rapidly expanding market.”
